Our Story

Wohltman-Aherin Insurance began in 1975 with a simple promise to serve Illinois families with honesty and personal attention. That promise still guides us today. Our growth into Shelbyville reflects the same commitment to neighbors across Effingham County, Jasper County, and Shelby County who want clear guidance and steady support.

Diane Aherin

Owner & Principle Agent

Diane Aherin is the owner and principle of Wohltman-Aherin Agency, with 25 years in the insurance industry as a licensed agent. Her experience extends beyond 25 years, as she is a second generation insurance agent and grew up with both parents operating an insurance business from their home.


She not only comes from a long line of farm owners, but still has and lives on a family farm, so she understands the risks farmers face in today’s world. Talk to Diane about farm and crop insurance, as well as home and auto coverage.


Diane lives outside of Dieterich and has three children. Along with keeping up with her kids she is involved in her church and community. Diane is a past school boards member and currently serves on the board of EJ Water and the Dieterich Community Development Corporation.

Mark Behrns

Agent

Mark Behrns has 32 years of experience and expertise, with a wide range of knowledge on all lines of insurance, from personal to commercial coverage, and is our resident expert on health and life insurance. He has earned his reputation as a trustworthy agent and will earn your trust as well.


Mark has a background as a successful business owner and farm operator and understands the risks involved in owning your own business. He has extensive knowledge of all types of financial products.


When he’s not in the office, he can be found on the farm or on the golf course.

Devin Aherin

Agent

Devin Aherin is a third generation licensed insurance agent with four years of insurance experience. As a multi-generational farmer Devin’s primary focus within the agency is assisting other farmers protect their farm assets. Devin also has expertise in life, home and auto coverages along with holding financial licenses.


In his free time Devin spends time on his farm tending to his crops where he was Effingham County’s Conservation Farmer of the Year in 2018. He also volunteers at Dieterich Community Schools where he is a board member and mentor.

Mandi Utley

Agent

Mandi Utley has worked in the insurance industry for 19 years and is a licensed Property and Casualty agent. She will explore every option to find you the best coverage at the best price.


She is ready to help with all types of insurance….home, auto, business, farm and specialty, and has comprehensive knowledge and expertise in all these fields. Mandi has attended the Advanced Farm Academy with Grinnell Mutual, along with holding a Farm Mutual Directors Certification, and her input is sought from insurance companies for which she serves on advisory committees.


Mandi lives in rural Newton and enjoys watching her four children in sports and activities, spending time outdoors, and being active in her church.

Norma Wohltman

Founder & Agent

Norma Wohltman brings 51 years of experience to the agency, with an extensive background in farm and home insurance. She is able to help our clients with auto and commercial polices as well.


Norma and her late husband, Myron, started in the insurance industry in 1972. Her experience also includes 35 years as manager/secretary of Bishop Mutual Insurance Company. She is licensed in property, casualty, life, and health insurance.


Norma enjoys seeing and serving both our long-time clients and new friends. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys keeping up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling the world, and volunteering in her church and community.
